In Our Infinate Wisdom!

Why in our infinite wisdom, do we keep electing people to run our country that don’t know anything about running a country?
A country is just another form of a business, is it not? So why don’t we have a CO with a proven track record as our president? A Lee Iacoca, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, for instance?
Why is the government(and for that matter, everyone else)so involved in Gay rights, Abortion, etc., when we should be thinking of how to survive the coming years. Why are we spending so much of the tax money on wars that aren’t going anywhere, while our education system, heath care systems, social systems, etc are falling to pieces? We are still spending billions on exploring the universe(I am a science nut, so don’t get me wrong!)while there are children still starving in This country! There aren’t enough jobs, people are losing their houses, unemployment is spiraling. Shouldn’t we put the money where it is needed and wait for the return of affluence to start funding non survival programs once again! Where is the thinking?
All politicians making $50,000 yearly should have a moratorium on their salaries! That would save a lot of tax money, would it not? Why do past presidents get such a large retirement after only 4 years? Aren’t they independently wealthy, anyway? I have to work for 50 years and I’ll never see the amount that they get in a year! Where’s the thinking? And it took me 20 years to learn my trade! How long does it take to learn to be stupid?
What this country needs is a pool of highly intellectual, logical people that we could choose our leaders from!

How to fix the U.S.A. By: Steven Hudson

The following is a 12 point discussion on my views of how we should go about repairing our broken society and economy.

1. Debt. Since our money system is no longer backed by gold bullion or silver, why not

sell off all the Fort Knox reserves, pay off the debt and re-buy the gold and silver when

the prices fall again? Why are we keeping all this wealth locked away, only to gather

dust?

2. The congress. Screaming for cuts to this and that, putting people’s

health and welfare at risk, at the same time, pumping billions of dollars into petty wars

that were lost by other super powers. Doesn’t anyone in office study history? The

answers are clear! Stop the war! Stop Stupid spending!

3. Unemployment insurance. Let us not forget who paid all the money into the coffers

of our great government in the 1st place. The working Joe and Jill have been paying

Unemployment taxes all of their working lives(most of them). This was as an

insurance against times like these. The money was paid by the workers, so why aren’t

they allowed to withdraw their savings when they need them? Now when so many are

unemployed, the Congress calls them Freeloaders and lazy, that they really don’t want

to find jobs. It is really fine to name call the very people that pay their salaries, so that

they can sit on their fat asses and argue about how to spend the American people’s

money. Throwing it away on studies that come to nothing except to give jobs to more

of the fat “lazy” politicians, and wars that create nothing, but destroy everything.

4. In a normal society. If a business fails from mismanagement, or whatever, it fails,

and ends up in the dust. But here we have a big brother for the big businesses! Our

Government will give them all the money they need to re-start that business.

Now let’s look at the small business. The auto repair shop, the cleaners, the upholstery

shop. One of these businesses goes under, where is the bail out? Where is the money

for the farmer losing his family homestead?

5. Medicare, Social security, etc. If I remember correctly, when I received my

paycheck, there were deductions taken out for the afore mentioned services. For all

these years the working class have been paying these same monies in the belief that

they would have an income when they were to old to work any longer. (The original

base deposit that was suppose to generate interest for the future, was pissed away on

the Viet Nam war.) If they were put in a bank from the beginning, with interest, it

would now be a tidy sum. This is what the government was suppose to be doing for us.

Now we find out that they used the money up on other things and that they need to

borrow in order to fulfill their obligations to the taxpayer. Oh well! They can borrow

billions for war, but not for the welfare of the people? They spent OUR money. Don’t

short change us now!

6. Taxes. We now pay over 50% of all money we make, to taxes. The Revolutionary

War was fought for a lot less of a reason than that! By all rights, we should be paying

maybe 20%! Let us look at this. We pay Medicare taxes and Unemployment taxes

through our paychecks. These services should be taken care of already. We pay

politicians to do the service of telling us; what to do, how to live, how to think, and

where to spend our money! Who knows what is best for us? We do!

7. Politicians. If one wants to be a true patriot, he should donate his time in office for

the sake of the honor of helping the country, not for lining his own pockets. This

would save the taxpayers billions of dollars and then they could blow their hot air on

their own time! This would also help insure having honest politicians that really care

about what they are doing and maybe a different type of government, where the people

in office actually know what they are talking about. Example: A business man in

charge of finances, an insurance man in charge of medi-care, an herbalist in charge of

the FDA. I wonder how many members of Congress would still be Congressmen, if

their salaries were cut off? How many people would want to be President if there

wasn’t A million dollar retirement plan?

8. Who lives in my body? The last time I looked, it was me! Why are there laws telling

me what to do with my body? I can see the reason for the ban on hard drugs. And yet

alcohol consumption is the worse of all the drugs! Where is the logic? Marijuana is

an herbal medicine beneficial in many illnesses. Where is the logic? Suicide may

seem wrong to most people, but whose body is it, anyway? Whether a person is gay or

straight should not be a moral or political question at all except when it infringes on

the rights and well being of another. Who’s body is it anyway? If I choose an

alternative medical therapy rather than a hospital, or choose to live at home rather

than at an elderly facility, shouldn’t that be my right? Again. Who’s body is it,

anyway?

9. Why do the countries around the world hate us? Duh! If I came into your house

and tried to tell you how to live, what god to worship, how to run your business, and to

throw away all of your traditions, beliefs, and morals, because mine are better,

wouldn’t you be a bit upset? Why do you think wars are fought, jihads are called, etc?

Disrespect! Learn to respect other people and their beliefs and many problems will

disappear. Not just pay lip service, like a politician, but truly understand and respect

that person and his people! I remember once long ago, in a conversation with a Native

American on religion. He said that he believed that there was only one God above,

with many different ladders leading up to Him. This shows a respect for ALL beliefs.

This is what we need.

10. Education. The government keeps cutting funds to our educational system because

of lack of funds. Education is the most important ingredient for a strong country!

Once again the powers that be are thinking illogically! We don’t need wars! We don’t

need overpaid politicians! We don’t need the gold in Fort Knox! You can’t eat dusty

gold! Start thinking logically and we won’t lack the funds for our services and

education! We won’t be in debt. We won’t be at war!

11. Business. I believe, that if we offered to suspend all taxes to the companies that

have left for foreign shores, they would return. This of course, would bring jobs back

To the U.S. and strengthen the economy. If taxes aren’t enough, offer other

incentives. Develop ways to keep our medium and small businesses from going

bankrupt. Make it easier for small business to get loans for expansion and

development.

12. Foreign Aid. With all the hungry and homeless and unemployed people in this

country, you would think that a number one priority would be to solve the problem.

With shelters closing because of lack of funds, food banks unable to meet the demand,

And unemployment rising like hot air, why do we keep sending money to feed the rest

of the world when we can’t feed our own? Whether we borrow the money for loans

and gifts, or for our own services, we are still borrowing! Look to your own and share

the excess when we have it!
